The 17th International Conference of the International Mesothelioma Interest Group (iMig) will be held in Philadelphia, USA, from October 26 to 29, 2025.
With the theme ‘Fostering Global Collaboration,’ this year’s conference introduces new formats designed to enhance international cooperation in mesothelioma research and treatment.
NCARD continues to play a leading role in shaping global mesothelioma research, with Professor Anna Nowak set to be inaugurated as iMig President at the conference. Other NCARD researchers taking on key roles include:
- Professor Roslyn Francis, chairing the Imaging Techniques session.
- Dr Jonathan Chee, leading the In Vitro and In Vivo Models session.
- Professor Bruce Robinson (iMig founding member) and Professor Jenette Creaney (Scientific Director) contributing to key discussions.
Innovative approaches to collaboration
Two new initiatives will change the traditional conference format.
- Showcasing cutting-edge research: Recognising the importance of emerging discoveries, iMig 2025 will introduce rapid-fire mini oral presentations of selected posters. This format provides researchers – including NCARD scientists – greater opportunities to share their latest findings with the international community and engage in deeper discussions.
- Building international research networks: The conference will introduce expert-led working groups, where participants will collaborate before and during the event on two major international projects – one translational and one clinical. These groups will meet each morning, culminating in project presentations after the keynote address by Dr Stephen Hahn, former FDA Director and radiation oncologist.
Engaging the global mesothelioma community
As a longstanding leader in mesothelioma research, NCARD encourages researchers to contribute to iMig 2025’s collaborative initiatives. Abstract submissions are open until May 21, 2025. Early registration closes July 18, 2025.
The conference will be held at the Downtown Marriott in Philadelphia, offering a central location for discussions that will help shape the future of mesothelioma research. iMig 2025 continues the tradition of uniting scientists, clinicians, and advocates with a renewed focus on structured collaboration and global impact.
