Mark your calendars for the 2025 NCARD Public Lecture: “New Approaches to Asbestos-Related Disease: Science, Care and Community” on November 18.
The evening will feature three speakers presenting the latest developments in asbestos-related disease research and care. Dr Yarlalu Thomas, Co-founder and Director of Lyfe Languages, will open the session with insights on culturally appropriate health communication for First Nations communities. Following this, Dr Melvin Chin from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and NCARD will present recent advances in mesothelioma treatment and clinical trials. Finally, Professor Jenette Creaney, NCARD’s scientific director, will highlight NCARD’s research achievements and collaborative partnerships.
This public seminar provides a valuable opportunity to hear about the latest progress in asbestos-related disease research, engage in discussion, and connect with researchers and those affected by these conditions.
The event takes place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, with check-in beginning at 4:30 PM. The lecture runs from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by networking and refreshments. The venue is Room G24, Harry Perkins Institute building, QEII health campus, 6 Verdun St, Nedlands WA 6009.
